Senator Berta Gardner, Midtown Anchorage District I, is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. She is married to Michael Gardner, and has three grown children and four grandchildren.
Prior to serving in the Alaska State Legislature, Senator Gardner worked as a bookkeeper, office manager, and as a Guardian ad Litem (advocate for children in state custody). Currently, she is the Senate Minority Caucus leader, serving on the Senate Education Committee, and on the statewide Suicide Prevention Council.
